STOCKHOLM CENTRALSTATION

Originally this project was going to be a city inspired by Stockholm’s layout, but with verticality more akin to New York. I decided halfway through that the project was a bit too ambitious and opted to instead design a transportation hub that would feature: Large balloons, small balloons, and trains. The main inspiration for the architecture was Beaux-Arts and the Grand Palais in France. I also referenced the New York Manhattan Bridge as well - I really like its detailing and how its functionality feels somewhat raw and exposed.

As far as the process goes everything was designed the same way: Traditional sketches immediately translated into Blender. The sketches would just give me an idea of proportion and shape, and everything else was designed in Blender. This whole project has been something I have chipped away at for the past year, so I could not say how fast this has been; though in my own mind I believe that it is quite slow.

I wanted to be fairly thorough in my modelling to practice my Blender skills. If this was for a project with art direction I imagine some of the things I chose to focus on could have been ommitted.

Kajaani Station and Retrieval Team

This was a personal project I fiddled with way back in 2018 or 2019 ish.

The idea was to create a Station in the snow with a search and rescue team that would retrieve frozen bodies from a natural disaster that happened on the planet Kajaani over a century ago.

The snow shell was originally colored red but for some reason I could only find the black version on my old hard drive. I did a lot of drawing for this project, and experimented with a lot of different methods. For the station render I ended up painting with photos over an old Modo model. The suits were just raw drawings in photoshop.
